5.0 out of 5 stars Broken Beat Fusion At Its Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, 12 April 2002
This review is from: Up & Down (Audio CD)
Dominic Stanton's debut album under the moniker Domu is exceptional and revolutionary in all facets! Domu uses an expansive approach to broken beat, fusing afro-beats, latin rhythm, vocals, instrumentation and more. Personal favorites of mine include Cloud City, Gotta Set It, Sail Away With Me, Wutonto, and Repercussion. The whole album is flawless, and definitely a standard for this next level of music. Also check out his work under his other monikers Sonar Circle, and Realsides.

4.0 out of 5 stars songs laced with brocken beats, 9 Nov 2001
This review is from: Up & Down [VINYL] (Vinyl)
Domu's lp Up & Down is an excellent debut and deserves alot of credit for the maturity reflected in this lp. Domu uses a wide range of styles including brocken beat, downbeat, hip hop, and garage style house. This makes the lp worth the price due to it's wide variety of styles and songs so you dont get sick of the mono angle some lp's have. The stand out tracks which make the lp worthwhile are "last time" feat. Nicky (my favorite), the mad 145 BPM track "Space Monkeys" which would get any dance floor racing, and the kind of kitch yet soulful "Sail Away" feat the excellent Valerie Etienne from 2 Banks of 4.
The rest of the tracks are good but they are almost just space fillers.

5.0 out of 5 stars the hottest producer on the block, 7 Nov 2001

Mr. A. B. Nathan "ascher" (london) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Up & Down [VINYL] (Vinyl)
whilst many of the broken beats coming from londan can be that bit too abstract, bedford's Domu is out there fusing groovy lines with funkin house/techno for some future music at its finest. On the album, Domu produces intense darkness at times, and at other times lush soundscapes. All have his typically unique drum programming and production. He truly is a leader and not a follower....miss this at your peril!!!
