5.0 out of 5 stars Southern Playalistic in ur sock draw, 27 Mar 2005
This review is from: Dungeon Family.. Even In The Darkness (Audio CD)
I cannot tell the difference between when it is a song from one of Outkast's Album or if it is from the DF Album. That is not a criticsm because i love everything on all of Outkasts albums its just that, especially Stankonia and Speakerboxx, Killer Mike Slimm Calhoun, Goodie Mob Sleepy Brown and Raekwon appear so often that there is very little difference. Each song's outro is accompanied by the same "Right!" that goes right through the Stankonia Album.
Trans DF Express is just like Whole World to be honest it has that catchy hook and flowing lyrics that appear when the DF get together. I actually prefer the voice of Killer Mike to Big Boi but it seems that Big Boi is better at very intricate lyrics, Andre has probably the most random lyrics that just redefine cool. Hippy to hop like a digi log frog throw me the cat and ill throw you the dog. exactly what that means i have no idea but its genius.
the songs are well amazing really its hard to describe unless you have Outkast before. I can Only stress that it is not like the Chronic in anyway whatsoever even though its a similar posse gathering style album. its East coast Sourthen Atlanta rap that kinda has you singing along in a couple of minutes, nonsense and catchy yet intricate and not meaningless. the One the Only Dungeon Family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, 23 Mar 2004
This review is from: Dungeon Family.. Even In The Darkness (Audio CD)
Should you buy this album? I think you probably should.
Is the mcing good? Yes. It's tight. Each dude has a great voice. Each dude has their own style. As a collective, they work in perfect unison without ever stealing tracks or going off the plot. The rhymes are fast, funny, witty and damn good.
Whats the music like? Its good too. Its different. What would you expect from a collective called 'dungeon family'? Some of the tracks are a little darker, but then some are upbeat and awesome. Nearly each track is pressed hard with rap, but etched with soul vibes. You never really know if your rapping or singing along.
Lastability? I bought this months ago. It took me a short while to warm to the entire album. Gradually I found myself liking more and more songs until it lay dorment in my cd wallet for around 2 months. When I pulled it out and played it, I couldnt believe I had put it away for so long. I was in one of those situations where i kept finding tracks I'd never really given a chance, and then loving them. This album is a great album (in the original sense of the word). There are no fillers here. Its all gold.
Anything else? Not really. What else do you need to know? The production is tight. The beats are tight. The mcing is tight. Its both old and new skool combined. Its hardcore rap and soul gelled as one. Its easy to listen to, but holds so much in it. this is a hidden gem. A diamond in the rough.
Have it.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best albums of 2001, 7 Mar 2002
This review is from: Dungeon Family.. Even In The Darkness (Audio CD)
Dungeon Families 1st album is a hip hop classic. With members including outkast, goodie mobb, cool breeze, slimm calhourn and backbone there is plenty of experience and talent. After Outkasts "stankonia"(there worst album) this was one album i was hopeing would raise outkast to there previous status ("Aquemini"). High-lights of the album include "six minutes", "crooked booty" and "follow the light". And overall their rhymes r perfect and the excellent production (provided by Organised Noise and earthtone 3) all add to this amazing hip hop album. any hip hop fan should own this album, so go buy it!!!!!
And it does say on another review that Ludacris is in the group, but he isnt even remotly involved with the dungeon family!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally original rap album displaying impressive new styles, 9 Dec 2001
This review is from: Dungeon Family.. Even In The Darkness (Audio CD)
Well here it is, an amazing 5 Star album, but of course it would be. When you combine big names such as Outkasts, Goodie Mob and Ludacris into one group then of course you going to come out with an amazing album, since all of them have truly orignal and impressive solo albums as well as totally different styles. Goodie mob add a light hearted bouncy touch and I think that Big Gipp has the most amazing voice ever, deep but fast and bouncy, then Cee-Lo with high paced vocal style brings in cool entrances such as in Trans Df Express. Then with those speed pumping rappers Outkasts backing them up it all goes together very well, but then Ludacris comes in coming out with his usual 'girls girls girls' relatd topics it's guarenteed to bring a smile to your face. This is totally different to most rap groups who are all about gangsters, these guys are about parties, having fun, and staying true to the music and if you want some happy party beats, this is where to go. Its got songs for everyone with powerful vocals and beats so hot its like pouring lava in your ears, a definate MUST HAVE for a true rap fan, so after reading this your one click away from having at least 6 months of wearing down your cd player with rapping delight, buy this NOW!
