5.0 out of 5 stars Reggae grown up!!!!!, 25 Feb 2002
By
jay245@c4.com (Wakefield, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Halfway Tree (Audio CD)
After being fairly disappointed with some of Ziggy's works, I've been reluctant to purchase music by Bob's other sons. Recently though, I gave into the temptation and took the plunge. Was I disappointed? Not at all. The album is excellent!
You don't have to be a huge fan of Bobs to appreciate this album either. Although there's a feeling of his father to some of his music, for example the cover of Slave Driver, there are also totally different vibes. The album takes you on a ride from reggae, through ragga and rap, and even touching on soul.
Highlights on the album are Mi Blenda, Where Is The Love (Feat. Eve), Born To Be Wild (Feat.Stephen Marley), and Stand By A Chance (Feat. Treach, Yami Bolo)
If you're looking for a reggae album for your collection, buy Bob Marley's Exodus. If you've already got that, or you want more than just reggae, get this. It's reggae grown up, and your collection isn't complete without it! Respect!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Strong album from Junior Gong, 16 Jan 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Halfway Tree (Audio CD)
Yes the album's heavy. It's different as well which makes me like even more. Stand out tracks: It was Written, Still Searching and Justice - none have the normal reggae 'chop' rythym
but all are conscious, roots affairs which sound tough. Gong is great on the lyics and breathes some fresh air into the reggae scene.
