5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute must for serious Vivaldi fans!, 17 Jan 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Vivaldi: Six Late Violin Concertos (Audio CD)
This disc definitely proves that Vivaldi did not write the same concerto 500 times....
The music is immediately recognisable as Vivaldi, yet the twists and turns of the composing will delight any one with a more than passing aquaintance with his works.
Carmignola is astonishing, a mentor to many modern Italian musicians and you can hear why. The Venice Baroque under Marcon are in the vanguard of Italian ensembles regaining the baroque period performance high-ground.
Give yourself a treat and buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars il diavolo, 7 Feb 2006
This review is from: Vivaldi: Six Late Violin Concertos (Audio CD)
The best Vivaldi album (with C's others). The shock's not quite up to Harnoncourt in 197... whatever it was, but that's only because at the time that was like having your ears syringed. This is splendid - fiery, capricious, in key, unmannered (deep down), Venetian (i..e mixed), and often mysterious. The band is not QUITE perfect. but Sign. C is.
Burn your Kennedy (not incitement - I mean the Cds).
