5.0 out of 5 stars Slinky does it again, 2 Oct 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Slinky Planet Sydney (Audio CD)
What a amazing cd, the 2nd slinky planet in the series. CD1 starts off great with top underground trance tunes as you get to number 4 (Dee Jay Kee) the tunes get harder, not hard house as such like a harder progressive melodic trance. This lasts until tune 11 with slusnic luna, watch out for tune 12 and 13 amazing stuff.
CD2 Starts off with a tune almost exactly like da hool but much better, then you get lots of cool progressive melodic tunes, more relaxed than CD1.
Overall amazing BUY IT NOW!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The true sound of sydney underground..., 13 Sep 2001
This review is from: Slinky Planet Sydney (Audio CD)
I have always trusted slinky to bring about quality mix albums, Moscow was very good, but i was a little sceptical of there latest release; the tracklisting looked to me that it had too many 'hard house' tracks on it, pushing slinky towards the more commercial, popular end of dance music at moment. Not being a fan of the hard house scene, the last thing i wanted to do was purchase a cd that was boring and full of whoshing hoover and horns sounds.
I was plesantly suprised, although the music cannot be classed as the worlds most inteligent music it can be said that the construction of the album, the mixing and track selection are spot on, transporting the listener to into a euphoric, adreniline pumping party. The music is hard, but not really on the same scene as the current flavour of hard house - with the exception of a couple of tracks. The style is hard edged trance, with flavours of techno and progressiveness (Tenth Planet - Ghosts).
Track compiliaton, and the way the tracks seamlessly build apon each other are very well done, esp. on disc one which ends fantasticly in Push's - Stange World. Quality is of the highest standard, glossy photos of sydney cover the inlay booklet, and the mix really makes you feel that you are standing in infront of the opera house, the sun pouring down.
Slinky have once again proved that they make excellent compilation albums - roll on the next Slinky Planet!

If you only ever buy one Slinky Cd it has to be this one, not a duff tune to be found on either disk as is the usual norm for dance music compilations (eupohria and cream take note!!!).
Both Cd's start on an epic rise and just build and build, check out tune 3 on cd 1, Icarus ABSOLUTLY AMAZING!!!! and on disc 2 the outstanding Das Glokenspiel!.
Well done Slinky i can safely say im looking forward to the next Planet Slinky installment.
