Having bought this CD in advance of seeing the movie, which doesn't open until September, I was expecting a mellow score, which this is, but with that extra magic spark that only John Williams can supply. The main theme can be heard in the tracks " Where Dreams Are Born ", " The Reunion " and most notably in the song " For Always ", which harks back to the days when a new John Williams theme raised the hairs on the back of your neck. This is a truly beautiful score, one which I will listen to again and again.

The composer John Williams has played a major part in the history of modern film music.. AI is a brilliantly conceived score, even if you haven't seen the movie you can understand what this story is about simply by listening to this music.

I enjoy John Williams melodies, his rhythms, and his orchestrations they are always thrilling and very original. I know that there are many people out there who may disagree with me when I say that I believe he is The "Beethoven" of present day big blockbuster film music. Hum the melody for "The Star Wars Theme" or "Superman" or "Jaws" or The Harry Potter Theme or any of his music composed for a Spielberg/Lucas blockbuster film and hum it to anyone in the world who knows these movies and I bet that they will all know instantly what you are singing moreover it will bring a smile of delight to their faces.

I believe that the measure of a great composer is the public recognition and popularity of his music and John Williams reaches almost everyone with his soundtracks. I think the man deserves to be called a musical genius in every sense of the word.

AI is wonderful and moving, the themes are glorious and the orchestrations are excellent. This score also comes with some fascinating electronic music and some great choral writing.

Recently I have been listening to another side of John Williams, his Violin Concerto and "The Five Sacred Trees". Although I cannot say that these works have the same instant appeal that the music for "Close Encounters of The Third Kind" or "Raiders of The Lost Ark" do but it still shows his brilliance of being able to write and compose in any musical genre.

This soundtrack is classical John Williams that soars, tears your heartstrings through your chest and flays them open. Every track on this score perfect and tells the story through every note with all the emotion you need. It isn't one of the selections that you hear very often in concert performances yet it is one of his very best and one that you should hunt down and buy to complete a collection. Utterly beautiful with highlights being The Reunion and For Always if you can find any that stand out because for me, they all do. Its subtlety is there throughout and I dare anyone with a heart to listen to this without coming close to breaking at least once.
This score is as close to perfect as you would want. Perfect to relax and listen to or play in the background while you relax. Beautiful. Buy it if you possibly can.

Emotionally-draining and thought-provoking, John Williams' soundtrack to an incredible film combines elements of minimalism, electronics and vocal effects to create a superb portrait of the 'Mecha' World. Barbara Bonney sings beautifully in 'The Search for the Blue Fairy' and 'Replicas' is probably the most unsettling track I have ever heard by Williams. 'The Moon Rising' is very exciting, beginning with the broken chord theme first heard in 'Abandoned in the Woods.' Unfortunately this soundtrack had technical difficulties importing into my iTunes but that may not be because of the CD. Anyway in terms of music this is a must-have soundtrack.
