5.0 out of 5 stars Magic, 11 Aug 2002
This review is from: Hard to Explain (Audio CD)
Well then, Hard To Explain, its not very hard for me to explain how good this is. This is the first track i heard from The Strokes , and the one that persuaded me to get the album on its release day.It opens with brilliant guitar from Albert Hammond Jnr , Nikolai Frauture and Nick Valensi and then in comes Julian Casablancas with the lyrics that youll find yourself howling to in next to no time. The Strokes are the best band in ahell of a long time. Get this and the album Is This It.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saviours of rock and roll?, 25 Jun 2001
This review is from: Hard To Explain (Audio CD)
Coming straight of an increasingly growing media bandwagon, the strokes have produced a song worthy of all the hype. Kicking off with a cheesy drum-machine inspired beat, soon the muted guitars come in. Then the true brilliance of the track; the distorted vocals. The distortion gives a whole new direction to the song. Simple, but effective, the song will soon worm its way into the unsuspecting conciousness. I cannot wait for the album...

4.0 out of 5 stars 21st Century Guitar Music, 22 July 2001

This review is from: Hard To Explain (Audio CD)
At last, here come The Strokes to inject a much needed shot of adrenalim into the arm of guitar music. HARD TO EXPLAIN is a frenzied, edgy song. J. Casablancas' proto-rap "I miss the last bus, I'll take the next train" is an amazing interlude, which just adds to the excitement. This is bound to be on the best of lists at the end of the year, its just so fresh. Oh, and the b-side NEW YORK CITY COPS ain't bad either.

5.0 out of 5 stars They've only gone and done it......, 25 Jun 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Hard To Explain (Audio CD)
Kept the flame burning brightly, after one of the most exciting rock and roll records of recent years, 'the modern age', and produced a supoib (nu yawk style) double A side that frankly knocks everthing else into place, that place being boringsville. THE most exciting record since supersonic or bittersweet symphony..... oh just buy it. Then go and form a ROCK band. nuff said!

5.0 out of 5 stars Triumphant Second single for New Yorks finest, 21 Jun 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Hard To Explain (Audio CD)
On the back of their "Modern Age EP", comes this superb double A-Side.
This is by far the best band to come out of America for years. The complete opposite of Britney Spears and co's recycled pop garbage.
Everything about this band is good, and this brilliant 2 track proves it.

As described. Second hand and in good quality. Very cheap way of replacing missing or damaged albums. My son's not as careful as me.
