3.0 out of 5 stars Not one of the best but still worth watching
It's hard to know what to say about the Royal Rumble 2001! Hard because the event builds up and up with some great matches, a few surprises and one of The Rock's best speeches... and then the Rumble itself comes along and to be honest it's a bit flat.
The DVD kicks off with a highly entertaining tag-team match then hits top speed with a CLASSIC ladder match between...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Royal Rumble ever!!, 25 Feb. 2007
This review is from: WWF: Royal Rumble 2001 [DVD] [NTSC] (DVD)
I must say, this Royal Rumble had me on the edge of my seat when I was watching it. Four title matches and the greatest Rumble match in the world which includes: Undertaker, The Rock, Kane, Stone Cold, The Hardyz, RTC, Rikishi and Drew Carey!

1. WWF Tag Team Titles: Edge & Christian (c) vs The Dudley Boyz

A fantastic opening match with lots of great spots. I give this match 9/10

2. WWF Intercontinental Title Ladder Match: Chris Benoit (c) vs Chris Jericho

One of the best matches of the night. The crowd were really behind Y2J and this proves why these two are future World Champions. 10/10

3. WWF Women's Title: Ivory (c) vs Chyna

Very short match with Chyna dominating Ivory. Eventually Chyna badly hurts her already injured neck and loses the match. 7/10

4. WWF Title: Kurt Angle (c) vs Triple H

A solid match with both men giving it their best. Not the greatest match you'll see as these two have had much better encounters - but still worth watching especially at the end! 8/10

5. 30-Man Royal Rumble Match

This Rumble Match was simply phenomenal! The crowd went absolutely nuts when Drew Carey (yes), The Rock, Undertaker & Stone Cold made their entrances. Too bad Kane didn't win it as he lasted the longest time. But the match had the best of the best! At one point a Hardcore Rumble as well, Kane marks a record of 11 eliminations. Best Rumble ever!!

So, get the DVD you will love it to bits!

5.0 out of 5 stars HELL, FIRE AND BRIMSTONE, 17 April 2001
By A Customer
After the somewhat farcical Mr McMahon victory in '99 and the all too predictable conclusion in 2000, the Rumble match of 2001 sees the event return to its' full head-on, chaotic glory. Five former WWF Champions are involved in the thirty man battle royal and although it was always likely to come down to either Stone Cold or The Rock, the spectacle is true classic blood and thunder. One larger than life superstar makes a welcome, devastating return, a marquee name comedian gives an amusing cameo and a wrestling legend of yesteryear provides an entertaining, if somewhat brief interlude. Then there is Kane, a picture of domination and destruction, seizing centre stage for the third consecutive PPV, spearheading a brillant hardcore melee involving Raven, Al Snow, Perry Saturn and Steve Blackman which totally sets the tone for the drama that follows. The remainder of the card is also packed with extreme action; Edge & Christian vs. The Dudleys for the tag titles and a fantastic ladder match between old adversaries Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho with the Intercontinental belt at stake. There is also a terrifically tense mood of high drama at the conclusion of the Ivory/Chyna Women's Championship match, which really does leave question as to whether the story is a wrestling angle or actual reality. The chief singles contest, Kurt Angle vs. Triple H for the WWF title is technically excellent as you would expect, with the appearance of Austin 3:16 at the conclusion, always guaranteed to inject controversy and raise the roof. This spectacular fully showcases a WWF roster which has rarely, if ever, looked more formidable.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best PPV of 01, 29 Jan. 2004
This review is from: WWF: Royal Rumble 2001 [DVD] [NTSC] (DVD)
A great Royal Rumble, a good title match and Y2J vs Benoit, WOW!This is a brilliant DVD and I would recomend it to any WWE/WWF fan. I will go through the matches:
E & C vs The Dudleyz for the Tag Team Belts
A good match, quick and a couple of spots that make you jump. The Dudleyz pull off all their moves and it is a great opener.
Rating: 4 and a 1/2 OUT OF 10
WWF Intercontinental Ladder Match
Chris Benoit vs Chris Jericho
A incredibly good match. These two guys are two of the best and they know what they are doing. Some awesome spots including a suicidal dive through the ropes and a Wall of Jericho on the ladder!
Rating: Def. 5/5
WWF Women's Belt
Ivory vs Chyna
An Okay match. They are two good wrestlers, but the Wrestlemania X7 match is better by far. Shock ending. Course she'll come back?!
Rating: 3.2/5
WWF Championship Match
Kurt Angle (Does not suck!) vs "The Game" HHH
A good match but too slow for these two. They should have made it a cage or a no d.q match instead. But it's still a great match, with two of the best squaring off.
Rating: 4/4
Royal Rumble
WOW! I love this mach to bits! It is a great rumble with hardcore being used and Kane is a monster! A REALLY decent match. But out of the final two, the other should have won.
Rating: 4.9999999999999999999999/5 because of the ending.
A great PPV. What are you waiting for? BUY IT!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great opener for the year., 17 Feb. 2004
By A Customer
This was a cracking opener to the year. Matches were fantantic and good. Here is what I think of them.
Edge, Christian vs Dudleyz.
Brilliant. A match with all the needs to be a good opener.
8/10
Chyna vs Ivory.
I was not expecting a good match but I was surprised as this was great. Momemtum swinging both ways. High flying bits aswell.
8/10
Ladder Match.
Finally a ladder match with some originality. This was the best match of the night. There were some original moves and great shots.
10/10
HHH vs Angle.
This was a great match. There was some brutality, high flying manouveres and some interference.
10/10
Royal Rumble.
This was the match everyone that everyone was waiting. However this was not as good as expected. They very much ruined this Rumble by putting Drew Carry in this one. This was not a bad Rumble but I've seen a lot better. Highlights of this Rumble were Big Show's return but most of all the two people in the ring when Scotty-2-Hotty came in.
6/10
This was a good event but the Royal Rumble was such a let down. Be glad that the other matches on the card were very good.
