Peter Blegvad mentioned in the sleeve notes to another cd that Slapp Happy fans are an 'exclusive club', which is probably the nice way to describe a cult following.
Have been into this band for ages and they've always delivered brilliant music, off kilter pop in the best tradition and it was great to see them live earlier this century.

This album is well up to the standard of previous efforts and it's a great surprise that 'Scarred for Life' hasn't been covered to death.

One of the few groups to give quirky a good name! ;o)

Ca Va, maintains Slapp Happy's literate, musical style, though perhaps at a slightly more accessible level than their earlier work. Perhaps the added years have given an increased sense of maturity. The sense of eccentricity and adventure is undimmed, however, the song 'Byron as an embryo' being a highlight of the album. All in all a great place to start exploring a stimulating and under-reported band. John Peel likes them you know!
