5.0 out of 5 stars The jewel of my personal collection
Well this DVD is a fantastic item for those who were not at Cavern club on 14th December 1999.And for the people who was there [What lucky you are :)]. It contains pure Rock and Roll interpreted by Rock and Roll legends on a mythical place (well a reconstruction of that mythical place) (Paul, David Gilmour, Ian Paice, Mick Green and Pete Wingfield). The band is in a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Live at the Cavern
PRODUCTION:

I was really looking forward to this dvd. I'm a big fan of McCartney, Dave Gilmour and, particularly, Ian Paice. However, the tight nature of the venue where the dvd was filmed clearly restricted the creativity of the film crew. The result is a 'straight on' view of the stage, with some dodgy web cam type close ups of the band. A bit...

It contains pure Rock and Roll interpreted by Rock and Roll legends on a mythical place (well a reconstruction of that mythical place) (Paul, David Gilmour, Ian Paice, Mick Green and Pete Wingfield). The band is in a perfect condition!! Also includes a promo video with sessions of the recordings of "Run Devil Run" album an interview and two promotional clips. Another DVD I recommend you is "Standing Stone" totally diferent 'cause is a classical piece but lovely to see the composing process.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mick Green with some Other Guys, 8 Sept. 2010

This review is from: Live at the Cavern Club [DVD] [1999] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC] (DVD)
Sadly, one of the greatest British electric guitarists ever passed away recently after five decades of showing everyone what rock'n'roll is really all about. This DVD, which is now getting rare, presents a chance to see him at the top of his game with a bunch of amazing fellow musicians, basically folks who were still wet behind their ears when Mick Green was up there on stage with Johnny Kidd, looking on admiringly. Some may argue that Paul McCartney is really the focus of this group, and admittedly the guy is outstanding here, but the style of music from start to finish has very little to do with his outpourings over the years - nor does it sound anything like Pink Floyd or Deep Purple. This is pure British pub rock, as performed by the Pirates as far back as the early 1960s and later on revived by groups like Dr Feelgood in the Seventies and thus an enormous influence on the then emerging punk scene. Let's face it, without Mick Green this music would never have happened the way it did.

This DVD is an excellent way of remembering Mick Green and the enormous influence he, as a true musician's musician, had on British rock. May his legacy never be forgotten and may he rest in peace.

4.0 out of 5 stars McCartney, 2 July 2011
old school McCartney at his rocking best on stage, giving a top notch performance, with a brilliant backing band,(including Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd ).
Having been to the Cavern, I can well imagine the atmosphere on that night.
Good stuff for all fans, but dont expect any Beatles stuff, this is early Rock and Roll.

A bit disappointing from a musicians perspective. This said, the production is good and qaulity crystal clear.

MUSICAL CONTENT:

No problem with this, the music is first class, raw and powerful. Gilmour's solo on 'no other baby' is sublime.

INTERVIEWS:

Unless you love Mccartney, don't bother watching the interview foiotage: the rest of the band don't feature, which is disappointing.

OVERALL:

At 5.99, it's on the money!
