This double cd is a live recording from a concert at Keystone Corner, San Francisco in 1981. Original Concord albums were "The Dolphin" and "Spring is here". Rec. engineers were Phil Edwards and Phil De Lancie, and they have done a fine job of balancing the musical elements, and reproducing the live club atmosphere. A grand total of 13 classic tracks written by Johnny Mandel, Jerome Kern, Johnny Mercer, Lorenz Hart, and others. It`s the quartet format, of Getz, Levy, Ludwig, and Lewis, and it`s the Getz "of old" blowing pure "straight ahead" jazz. By this stage, as he moved into the last part of his outstanding career, Getz had returned to his roots, and the "Fusion" days of the 70s were left behind forever.
Getz in this form brings out the very best in his fellow players, who do much more than just "accompany" him. Each makes his own unique contribution individually, and also as an integral part of the end result. The wonderful tone and technique of Stan Getz has been well documented.....just listen, experience, and marvel at the wonder of it all! In Stan`s own words..."There are four qualities essential to a great jazzman. They are taste, courage, individuality, and irreverance". Enjoy all of these qualities in abundance on this outstanding recording !
Running times of the two cds are 58.26mins. and 48.28mins. Sound quality is excellent.
