After first discovering Coldplay in late 1999, Dont Panic was already a favourite of mine, and was to those who had seen them, a highlight of their set. So it seems strange that two years in they choose to release it as a single. And stranger that they believe we have heard enough of them in the UK and so it gets only a commercial release in Europe. This decision made it far more difficult for the real fans of the band to get hold of a copy, causing far more frustration than if they were to release an older record. Nevertheless, the song remains a classic and remains an uplifting opening to the award winning Parachutes LP. Just hope it isnt too long before they get some newer stuff out.

This must be one of the best tracks by Coldplay, a far better version of the song than the first one, featured on The Blue Room EP. I really can't understand why it hasn't been selected as the first single release from Parachutes, instead of Shiver (a great song on its own merits, by the way - but Don't Panic is far superior, IMHO anyway). But this version of the single - the dutch one - is especially good because of the extra tracks, live versions of Spies, Bigger Stronger and Yellow recorded in Holland. Spies and Bigger Stronger are different from the original versions, and Yellow, as usual, shines. All in all, a great single. Buy it, or at least try to listen to the live versions. You'll sure be pleased!

This is one of the best bands that England has ever produced and with songs like Don't Panic, Yellow and Trouble it isn't hard to see why. Lets just hope that they can keep creating such fantastic singles as Don't Panic and albums like Parachutes, Thank You Coldplay.
