1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish - totally forgettable, 13 Aug 2007
This review is from: 14 Original Recordings (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of Scott Walker since his early pop career with the Walker Brothers through to his 4 magnificent solo offerings. The later stuff I find a little too "off the wall" for my tastes.

However, when I saw this CD in a car boot sale for 50p I thought I'd struck gold. Sadly that wasn't the case.

This is very misleading, the cover shows a Scott from the late 60s when he was in full stride, the notes inside also remark on the successful side of his career, with no mention to the tracks listed on the CD. Once I'd heard it I could easily see why.

I'm not sure when the tracks were recorded as they are not dated, however, I would say Walker could not have been much older than mid-late teens.

If it wasn't for the fact that his name was on the CD, I would not have recognize him in a million years. There is no mature baritone voice, just a high ranged pitch of a young adolescent. The songs themselves are instantly forgettable.

Had they said on the cover, 14 original recordings from such and such a period with an appropriate picture, then nobody could complain.

From a collector's point of view, this still isn't worth the purchase.
