4.0 out of 5 stars Buy it for the Thin White Duck Mix alone!
Hollywood is the second single from Madge's 2003 "American Life" album. The radio edit sounds a bit rubbish, the second remix is an absolute corker and the soul reason why you should buy this CD.
This remix was one that formed part of the MTV VMA 03 performance alongside Britney, Xtina and Missy. However it's loads better here. Buy it - NOW!

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed remix package from the Queen of Pop.
Hollywood is one of the best tracks of Madonna's latest album American Life. However, this remix cd does not show it at its best.
The Paul Oakenfold mix is far and away the best remix as its a real trancey take on the track and you could easily imagine this playing at a club. The Jacques Lu Cont track is also good, although it sounds a lot like a Daft Punk...

The song is hard to describe but I dont know anyone who doesnt like it!

The Remixes are good but nothing compares to the real thing.

Buy CD2 too, Its got better remixes including the one that was used on the MTV VMA 2003 performance which is awesome!!!

Well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hollywood by Madonna, 5 Jun 2005
This review is from: Hollywood (Maxi CD) (Audio CD)
Hollywood is one of Madonna's best ever songs and the remixes are also excellent, as most Madonna remixes are. The single charted at #2 in the UK, but failed to chart in the US...
The tracks are all remixes of Hollywood:
Radio Edit
Jacques Lu Cont's Thin White Duck Mix
The Micronauts Remix
Oakenfold Full Remix
Deepsky's Home Sweet Home Vocal Remix
Calderone and Quayle Glam Mix
All remixes are great, even the Calderone one which is better than most remixes he ever produced, but my favourites are the remixes by Oakenfold and Deepsky. (You may recognise Paul Oakenfold if you watch the reality TV show Big Brother, because he produced the theme tune!)
From the Warner Bros./Maverick album American Life

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 6 July 2003
This review is from: Hollywood [CD 1] (Audio CD)
Back in April whilst the critics were panning Madonna's latest album (which contrary to the reviews is actually a brilliant release) 'American Life', they all seemed to have missed one song. That being the second single from the album and easy standout 'Hollywood'.
The songs structure consists of a catchy, warming acoustic guitar for it's backbone and the seemingly obvious Mirwais bass synth and bleeps. The song is in a similar vein to that of 'Don't Tell Me' but imagine a faster version of the song and er, 15 time better and you have this song.
Easily one of the best singles of 2003 and from the new album 'American Life'.
You would be doing yourself a favour by purchasing this ;)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great new single, 5 July 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Hollywood (Maxi CD) (Audio CD)
After the less-than-well received American Life, Madonna has decided to release a some what more 'commerical' single. Hollywood is a excellent track with a thumping techno beat and great acoustic guitars.
Co- producer/writer Mirwais' superb production skills shine through on the track, and Madonna's vocals are as good as ever. More importantly, Madonna's choice of lyrics are very meaningful, as the queen of pop attempts to persuade us of the pitfalls of Hollywood: "How could hurt you when it looks so good?". And if anyone can warn us, it has to be Madonna, with a 20 year career under her belt.
As an added bonus on the CD are all the remixes to Hollywood, the Oakenfold mix being particularly good.

5.0 out of 5 stars madge is back, 25 July 2003
This review is from: Hollywood (Maxi CD) (Audio CD)
I luv this single.001 radio edit(3.42)is the electronic album version but without the push the button dont push the button trip the station change the channel bit.I like it.
002 jacques lu cont's thin white duck mix(7.08)is the best remix here. This version is quite laid back so you wont here it in a club unless there is something terribly wrong with the d-j!!This remix is different but still brill!!
003 the micronauts remix(6.25)is the 2nd best remix here.It has some excellent high qaulity beats.I like it.
004 oakenfold full remix(7.01)is a spacey type of remix. This is the remix to die for and will be the type of remix played in clubs. It is better than the american life oakenfold remix.Luv it!!
005 deepsky's home sweet home vocal remix(7.34)is fantastic even though the only line used is push the button dont push the button trip the station change the channel through-out the song apart from the cause youre in hollywood bit.The music is intact on this remix.
006 calderone & quayle glam mix(9.18)is a very long version.Ive heard a few bad reviews on this remix but i think its O.K!!
Overall this maxi single is great!!Buy it now!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hollywood For Madonna!, 20 Aug 2003
This review is from: Hollywood [CD 1] (Audio CD)
The third single to come from American Life, we see a much stronger side to the Album and a more representative one at that. This is more like it. A song that has a strong beat and good instrument, whilst keeping with the Madonna style thats individual and revoloutanary. A good song and a good buy!

THis is one of the best tracks on the "American Life" album. Fresh, breezy and stunning, this is pure Madonna at her best. Get up and dance. The CD also has killer dance re-mixes.

However, the Micronauts and Deepsky remixes are nothing but poor dubs and to be avoided at all costs. The biggest dissapointment is Victor Calderone's mix as he had provided some fantastic mixes for Madonna in the past but this is just poor and defintely not a dancefloor filler!!
I guess most remix packages are mixed and this is no exception. Buy for the original and the Oakenfold/Lu Cont mixes but avoid the others!!
