REPRISE/ATHCHUAIRT) is a wonderful album - produced by Micheal O Domhnaill (Pronounciation for non-Gaelic speakers - MEE/HALL O DOE/NALL !!) and Paddy Glackin around 2001. It is also important for the fact that it is the last recording that the late and much missed Micheal O Domhnaill made.

Micheal was one of the founders of the dynamic Irish Tradional group - the BOTHY BAND in the mid 70's. Subsequently he went on to play and record with fiddler Kevin Burke, producing two delightful traditional albums - PROMENADE and PORTLAND where his powerfully evocative and gentle voice - infused the old Gaelic ballads with life - colour - and warmth. After some years living in America, he returned to Ireland, and played many gigs with Paddy, also, his sisters - Triona and Maighread Ni Dhomhnaill, and many other established traditional musicians.

Paddy Glackin is a highly renowned Irish fiddler, of the 'Donegal Tradition', who has been playing, (and latterly teaching the fiddle and traditions to youth) for nigh on forty years. He played with the Bothy Band for 18 months during their earliest years, and since recorded with Paddy Keenan, the famed piper - who was also a Bothy Band member.

This album has eleven tracks - eight musical tracks - reels, jigs, airs and so on, with Glackin on fiddle, and O Domhnaill on guitar, as well as some extra 'supporting' players. Sadly there are just three 'amhrain' (songs) sung by the inspired - and inspiring Micheal O Domhnaill. However, the songs he sings - including a wonderfully hypnotic 'Fear an Bhata' (previously recorded by Capercaille), a powerful 'Brid Bhan', and a stunning rendition of 'The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond' all have a stellar quality which is inimitable - and unsurpassable. They will sing in your head - long after the CD is turned off, and you will know that you have happened on something - profoundly awesome...

Paddy Glackin has far to few records, I love to hear his versatility on the fiddle; sensitive and forceful, light and shade. The singing of the late Michéal Ó Domhnaill is beautiful as always - he is sorely missed.
