This CD will introduce you to the brilliant quality "stereo" sound the late Robert Parker obtained from ancient 78's. There is nothing else of comparable quality, not even close. I got mine from an amazon shop for almost nothing, I was so impressed I bought several CD's on the strength of this sampler alone. As some are no longer avaiable new, you will have to search for a used one, either here or the USA site or a on well known online auction. Thoroughly recommended.

Robert Parker was an Aussie sound engineer who revolutionised the sounds found on 78 records. He dragged them into the hifi age by recreating them in digital stereo.

This was my most disappointing CD ever! Robert Parker was noted for his brilliant restoration of classical jazz recordings on 78 rpm records into hiFi quality stereo sound. I doubt that Robert Parker was within a thousand miles of this recording studio. The songs and singers are available on scores of alternative superior recordings. After playing the CD through I put it straight into the bin.

A good service. The album provides an excellent overview of some classic artists. It certainly provides sufficient information to track down other albums.

Again an odd choice of material beautifully re mastered by Alan Parker. The Al Jolson recorded in 1927 sounds like it was recorded in the 1960's.
