After sampling a fair number of albums in this style, I'd say this was a fairly easy introduction but isn't quite as interesting as the stuff put out by Claude Challe or Nitin Sawhny. Some of the tracks have been around for a while and are fairly well known (e.g. Moby), so unfortunately I'd already got them. Most are a standard dance/chill out style with a world music flavor. Personally, I prefer the more experimental style of the Buddha Bar range which also has a slightly Jazzier overall feel. It's probably down to taste in the end but I think there are better examples of the craft.

Although not quite up to the excellent standard of the Claude Challe/Ravin Buddha Bar series, but nonetheless a very good attempt to mimic the flavour that they portray. If you are a Buddha Bar fan you will not be dissapointed, a good addition to any collection.

This is a very good cd with lots of cool songs on both cd`s. Still, I like the tranquility cd best because the songs (like "Where do I begin (Away Team mix) - Bassey, Shirley") do have a spectacular blend of hip-hop/funky rythms attached to musicals, eastern sounds and other sorts of music. This combination is done in a very good way and makes the songs irresisteble in my opinion. the joy cd doesn`nt contain that much rythm, but it still has some good songs. In addition, the deal doesn`t make your wallet too thin.... all in all, this is very good deal!!!!

As others say, a sort of electronica/"eastern" mix. Not all tracks are eastern, but as a whole it flows together. The compilation is good but not five-stars. I'd probably give it 3.5 if I could. A couple of the tracks annoy me and I skip, but if I'm working I sometimes don't notice and it flows through. In a soft sense I am happy with about 80% of the songs, critically appreciate 50% of them, and genuinely dig about 25% of the songs. I've got my own tastes and your mileage may vary. I wouldn't spend tons of money on this, but it is worthwhile to have in your collection. It sets a pretty good mood.

fabulous fusion music featuring some of the best artists around, for example the afro celt soundsystem, and stephane pompougnac of the Costes albums dynasty. "tranquility" is perfect for chilling out to, while the more up-beat "joy" will see you through a party. This is one of the few compilations where each and every one of the tracks earns its place, and is also perfectly placed to keep the music's mystical harmony. definitely my best buy of the year - it still hasn't left my stereo!!!
