5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, 2 Mar 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Glory Boys (Audio CD)
Secret Affair were one of the truly great bands of the late seventies and early eighties. And this first CD re-issue of their legendary 'Glory Boys' album breathes fresh life into the legend - the remastering giving the inspired collection a heightened sense of excitement and energy. Although only responsible for two monster hits (and several minor ones), the songs of Ian Page and Dave Cairns have stood the test of time, with the biggest of the hits found here in 'Time For Action'. Chris Hunt's impressive sleevenote too puts the band into the context of their period and details the history of the band in such a way as to entertain the expert and imform the novice. An excellent package that will bring the music of a great band to a wider audience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glory Boys was the sound of 1979, 10 Dec 2000

This review is from: Glory Boys (Audio CD)
Without Secret Affair and the album Glory Boys there would have been no Mod Revival as such in 1979.
The album is a dance album( with Power), filled with pop classics like "Time For Action", the call to arms Mod Anthem, and the muso "I'm Not Free But I'm Cheap". Ian Page sharp street wise Mod supplied Soulful vocals, Dave Cairns Guitar cuts through with Blues and Power, Dennis Smith supplies the Thumping Bass and Seb Shelton the the Rhythm on the Drums.
The added Dave Withrop on Sax made an Album of the year 1979, buy it while you still can

5.0 out of 5 stars Kings of the '79 revival., 16 Sep 2001

The best album from the legendary kings of the '79 mod revival. A fantastic album with an eclectic mix of tracks and not a bad one in sight. In some places angry post-punk and in others it's almost orchestral. Buy the CD and keep your original vinyl in tip top nick!
