5.0 out of 5 stars A good selection of the second half of Kim's career
Fantasic! A great showcase album which brings togather a selection of Kim's late 80's hits with her last handful of songs, released sporadically through the 90's. Most of Kim's compilation albums concentrate on her early hits (Kids in American and the like) so its refreshing to get the chance to have a listen to the tune's that kept her in the public eye through the next...

1.0 out of 5 stars Great music, disappointing sound quality
One star a little harsh? Not really. The only way to describe the sound of this CD is "horrible".
Which is a shame, because the music is fantastic - a nostalgia trip to the 80s. But the recordings sound like they've been copied off an old worn out vinyl record.
If you've got anything more than a CD "boom box" (ie a proper hi-fi), give this a wide berth.

Fantasic! A great showcase album which brings togather a selection of Kim's late 80's hits with her last handful of songs, released sporadically through the 90's. Most of Kim's compilation albums concentrate on her early hits (Kids in American and the like) so its refreshing to get the chance to have a listen to the tune's that kept her in the public eye through the next decade. My personal favourite's have gotta be 'Hey Mr Heartache' (a classic song of lost love and letting go) and Say You Really Want Me (a number from 1987, which saw Kim lose her girl-next-door imagine in a raunchy video that got the BBC steaming, consequently banning it). The album also include's two great covers - You Keep Me Hangin' On and If I can't Have You. The latter stays close to the original but the first is a storming tune, which Kim made her own (its now most definately the definitive version). Although Kim's musical career is on the wane, this will definately stand as a tribute to one of Britains finest finale vocalists!!

I have to say it is one of the Best collection since The singles Collection 93, The Collection 2001 is an amazing collection, very dance -pop record. Has a lot of Hits, including # 1 Hit You Keep Me H O, + so many good singles like You Came, Love is Holy, I can't say goodbye,, Of course how can you miss sexy Say you really love me with catchy rithm. Ends with confident Soul-dance Breakin Away, thats the way should be. This is very Kim Wilde album and if you like Madonna, Cher or Kylie Minogue The you should GO for it.... Excellent CD

5.0 out of 5 stars Kim Wilde's best collection thus far...., 15 Feb 2005
This review is from: The Collection (Audio CD)
This collection basically sums up the second half of Kim Wilde's career. Fortunately, it's the era where i like Kim's sound the most. Call me cheesy but most of the songs here reflects what the pop scene was like in the UK in the late 80's/early 90's - which to me is still the best years of UK pop music. My favourite tracks are definately from the "Close" album, namely "You Came" (my personal all time favourite), "Never Trust A Stranger" and "Four Letter Word". Her next album "Love Moves" was not bad either and one track of the album ("It's Here") still sounds great everytime i hear it. Then came a little change of directly musically and Kim turns a bit of a rock-chick ala Belinda Carlisle. Listen to "Love Is Holy" and you'll know what i mean. All in all, a great Kim Wilde's collection. A must-have for all Kim's fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Green-Fingered Queen of Eighties Brit-Pop, 26 April 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Collection (Audio CD)
Kim Wilde. All the boys loved her, all the girls wanted to be her. She was the Britney of the eighties in a time when Madonna was just beginning to emerge. Yet Kim didn't need crucifixes or lace-bras to survive, for she had talent - and here, to prove it, is a collection of all her greatest moments. From her upbeat-boppy vocals in 'If I Can't Have You' to the ominous warnings in 'Never Trust A Stranger', all her hits are here. If you ever sang along to "Another Step" or "Four Letter Word", then this album is for you. Turn it up full blast, lock all the door, and dance like a Kid in America for, as Kim herself once sang... "It's here"!
