5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best bhangra albums of all time!
This is fantastic..People truely do not know what they are talking about..Panjabi MC is a great producer and one of the best on the Bhangra scene..This album smashed all sales of Bhangra CDs and put Bhangra on the map internationally!..This album also set standards for bhangra music as a whole..

1.0 out of 5 stars You liked Mundian To Bach Ke so you want to buy this?
Well don't. Whilst Mundian To Bach Ke is a classic storming piece of Bhangra the rest of the tracks on here are truly dire: turgid and unexciting rapping, clumsy sampling and songs that sound like cast offs from a third rate Bollywood musical. Obviously Panjabi MC only has one good track in him. Take my advice and don't buy this, stick to your single of Mundian and...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best bhangra albums of all time!, 22 Jan. 2006

A lot of people do not know much about panjabi (Bhangra) music, and dont know that quite a few tunes on the album are not fresh, but actually remixs of legendary punjabi folk songs e.g. Challa, Neuke Phaddin Jawanan..The remixes are great because they are not overdone but are beatiful like the originals..
remember that Bhangra music was different 20 or so years ago, now it is eastern vocals and percussion blended with western beats and bass..
There are legendary and highly respected singers on this album, as in Gurdas Mann, Late Lalchand Yamlajat, Surinder Shinda and not forgetting folk king Kuldip Manak..
If you like Bhangra music then you HAVE TO BUY this, trust me you will not be let down..
This album is a personal favourite of mine, Panjabi MC has always dropped massive tracks for the dance floor, and trust me, sometimes his tunes rule the dance floor! Maximum respect!

5.0 out of 5 stars Genre-defining UK bhangra album, 18 April 2009
This review is from: Legalised (Audio CD)
If there's one album that can be credited with taking Bhangra to another dimension and priming it for the (Western) mainstream, this is probably it. Coventry's finest skilfully blended old Punjabi folk and film songs to Western beats in a way that was both true to the originals but at same time completely fresh and (then) pioneering. The sound resonated with young British Asians looking for something uniquely theirs, probably explaining why this album became so legendary. At the time of its release in 1998 on Birmingham's Nachural label, it would still be a few years before ''Mundian...'' would become an online hit and get picked up by German dance label Superstar Recordings, chart there and prompt a UK mainstream release, catapulting Panjabi MC into the UK Top 5. It was a whole five years later and the song hadn't aged one bit. Writing this review 10 years on from the original release of this album, both the track and the whole album still manage to pack a punch. Other tracks like ''Challa'' with Gurdas Mann (reworked from an original film song performed by Gurdas in 1986) could have been made yesterday. Others like ''Neuke Phadin Jawanan'' have dated, but only slightly. If you're into bhangra, world music or just innovative dance beats; you'd be hard-pressed to find a such a perfect album today.

I don't understand why some people don't like this CD, because it is really FANTASTIC!!!
Well, okay, maybe there are 2 or 3 tracks which aren't too great, but most of the tracks are just great!!
If you like Indian dance grooves, you really should buy this album!! I just love it!!
