Miles is back playing better and stronger than on his previous studio release You're Under Arrest. The writing is superb, including that of George Duke as heard on Backyard ritual. Start of the art production for its day, sounds a tad dated, but still cool. Marcus Miller is great on both fretted and fretless bass as well as other instruments. Great cover as well. Along with live in Paris video Tutu is the best of eighties Miles.

Coming from an era and a world I never directly experienced, Miles is one of those guys who seems very much larger than life to me...

I always loved his playing and his ability to stay in the forefront of whatever the hell was happening in jazz and fusion from the mid-forties to the very early nineties (albeit with periods of being AWOL due to personal issues).

This album was released in 1986 and is a great fusion of the jazz funk of Marcos Miller and George Duke and that totally distinctive Miles trumpet sound...

Once you can get past that 80's synth sound then you will hear miles playing some really nice stuff. Im not a major lover of any of Miles stuff past "Jack Johnson" but I would say this is still a good effort.

Despite the abundance of dated synth sounds and the hammy use of tenor sax samples on one track, I still love this album, got it on CD to replace the vinyl.

This was probably the last 'great' Miles Davis album. The music is lovely, but you have to get past the suffocating eighties production values. If you can do that there's much to enjoy.
