when i first started listening to this CD, i couldn't make my mind up if it was complete rubbish, or the best album i've heard in a long time. 'Joy', 'Friends Stoning Friends', 'Whiteliberal...' and 'Rice Is Nice' all sounded very tinny and tuneless, kinda like the Pixies or Idlewild recorded in someone's garage. it wasn't until 'Flysmoke' kicked in that i started to realise the brilliance behind the tunes: the preceeding noise was all necessary to make the quiet moments, such as 'Flysmoke' and '(Sometimes)...' shine.
however, repeated listening (helped along by reading the fantastic lyrics) again proved me wrong, as the jagged sonic hooks of 'She Come in Pieces' and the catchy chorus of 'Friends...' kept getting lodged in my brain, refusing to move until i played the CD at neighbour-baiting levels. by now, the true brilliance was shining through.
once you get over the 'recorded in a garage' sound and given it time to grow on you, you won't stop playing this CD. if you love the Pixies, early Idlewild, Nirvana, or, at a push, the guitar sound of Muse playing live, BUY THIS CD NOW!!!!!!!

After being on a random purchasing spree for about a year, and coming up with only tedious tired sounding records, i finally came up with an album which sounds like it was written for the band to enjoy rather than a 'target audience'. the album is so fresh, heartfelt and energetic you just cant help jumping around the room and singing along. my favourite find since Hefner who by coincidence (or not) are signed to same label as this lot of nutters.

You may remember this band if you caught the TJ's in the Park mini festival last summer. They were one of the best bands on the day; I've been waiting for this album ever since.
Brilliantly crafted melodic punk with a sheen of quality often missing from Pixies/Nirvana soundalikes. They remind me a little of Compulsion also, so if you like any of these bands, give them a try. All the tracks are first class but my favourites are Rice is Nice; She Come In Pieces; (Sometimes) I Have To Concentrate; When They Come Tell Them No; Rods On Crutches; World Cup Drumming.
If you can, catch them live. Spread the word...

...This is good Joy - what a song Like Nirvana, their main influence are the pixies and if you love the pixies, screaming, choas and the 1st decent punk out of wales since early manic street preachers - buy this now. They're gunna be big. THESE ARE THE PIXIES REINCARNATED.
