5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent musical talent with flawless vocals, 30 Nov 2000
This review is from: True North (Audio CD)
Fisher is one of those artists that sits quietly in the background here in the UK, waiting to be discovered, and arrests your attention when you uncover it. This record is a diamond in a sea of mediocrity. From the hard edge of tracks like Never Say Never and Any Way you immediately know where Fisher is coming from. Then you're hit with a simple track, I Will Love You. This has to be THE most emotional song i've ever heard.Simple Piano accompanies a heartfelt, almost tear-inducing vocal performance from Fisher. You want a weepy/romantic track for a wedding? This is it, right here. Fisher travels into the human conditions such as Love, Hate, Hindsight and does so with an ability i've not seen since Hootie and th Blowfish. An Excellent and worthy addition to anyones collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mary, this is *so* very necessary, 25 Jun 2001
This review is from: True North (Audio CD)
Fisher's "True North" lays its stall out early. Lending, on the first listening, to every good song you've ever heard before -- Tori Amos, Jewel comparisons abound -- "True North" evolves with each repeat play, contorts with each mood and despite the lilting lullabies of such stand-out tracks such as the heavily promoted "I Will Love You," or my personal favourite "Mary," begins, eventually, to present itself as a fully conceptualised album and listening experience. Not so much as a soundtrack to that latest Meg Ryan weepie, as a portable hymn to the human ability to feel. Essential.

Listened to it in FLAC format through a decent pair of headphones.

Beautiful. Stunning. Awesome.

From the warmth of Kathy Fisher's voice to the beautifully arranged guitars and pianos the album draws you in with its beguiling essence.

The way it has been recorded too is worth praising. Rarely have pianos sounded so full and round; every nuance of Kathy's voice has been captured.

I have been contemplating going through my CD collection and picking an album of the year for each year. This could well walk away with the crown for 2000.
