This is an excellent recording of Wilkinson live. The automatic end-of-chapter divisions are only very minor and don't take away from the quality of the DVD. It is high quality and well worth purchasing for any Wilkinson, or indeed Patti LuPone, fan. She sings about 4 songs and is quite good. But this is a Colm Wilkinson tour-de force from start to finish. His 'House of the Rising Sun' astounded me. I reckon he is naturally a soul singer. 'Gethsemene' particularly suited his voice also, and I enjoyed his stage actions during each performance. Fans of Valjean and Phantom won't be disappointed either - he sings the obligatory quota from each. Maybe he should have done a duet of 'Phantom of the Opera' with Patti, but it still works great without it. He sings a duet of 'Father and Son' with his own son Aaron, who sings a bit like Eddie Vedder. I liked his 'My Way' at the end of the show. Marvellous singing overall from one of the greats!

Wonderful singing and performances from Colm and Patti, but whoever edited the DVD and inserted the constant 'intermissions', really spoils the flow and enjoyment of the overall experience

Whilst the performance of Colm Wikinson is absolutely superb, the quality of the DVD is atrocious. It has obviously been transferred from Video format and the picture quality is just awful. Particulary annoying is the way in which the DVD 're-starts' at the beginning of each track. I don't know how they handled the chapters but every track is shown on the DVD display as Chapter 1! Save your money - you will be disappointed - this is a blatant rip-off, charging a premium DVD price for what is at best an average technical quality video. Colm - you should distance youself from this product, it does you no service!

This live concert was first recorded for PBS in the USA. Basically, it is the live version of the "Stage Heroes" CD released some years ago. Even if you're not a fan or familiar with of all of the songs from the shows sung, you will be. Colm is probably one of the most under-rated tenors in the business. His resonating voice and power on the high notes will send chills up your spine. The best part about the video is that you can see Colm act the part as well as see it even though it is just a concert. A must see and must own for anyone and everyone.

I thought this was an excellent recording of Colm Wilkinson. However, whoever edited the DVD needs to be shot at dawn and I agree with the criticisms made about the editing. However, if you are a fan of Colm Wilkinson you will enjoy the DVD and it is good entertainment. Wilkinson's singing is wonderful.

I LOVE Colm Wilkinson. Unfortunately, other than the 10th Anniversary Les Miz DVD, I could find nothing else with him just singing. Fearful that O wuld not be able to play this DVD in the US, I watched it on my laptop, then wirelessly transmitted it to my 65" TV. I am understating when I say I was blown anway. The picture quality was outstanding and Colm, of course, was magnificent. I wish there were more videos out there for him - and I don't mean those grainy YouTube vids, although I am haapy to watch them. A most enjoyable romp through a number of broadway musicals, including the bonus Patti Lupone portions, who is also in great form. And Colm's duet with his son- well, that brought a tear to my eye.

I have had my trials with this tape. My fault, not the seller's. Didn't know what PAL format was so ordered the tape from the UK and of course it wouldn't play on my machine. To make a long story short, I have jumped through a few hoops getting the concert onto a DVD in a US-friendly format but...it was worth it! Colm was at the top of his game back in 1997. Of course, as far as I'm concerned, he's still at the top of his game! Anyway, this concert could have gone on and on. Patti Lupone is great but I'd have been supremely happy with a one-man show! I was touched when Colm's son, Aaron, sang a song with him and afterward, he put his hand on his dad's shoulder and Colm told him he was proud of him. This is great insight into the man. This concert is a must for Colm Wilkinson fans but good luck finding a copy of it. I feel lucky to have snagged mine.

Eagerly anticipated this dvd of Colm Wilkinson, especially having been blown away for many years by the 10th anniversary concert of Les Mis. Whilst he does sing those two songs well plus Music Of The Night from Phantom this concert is so badly edited and delivered. It stutters along with Patti LuPone doing 4 decent numbers in between some unfortunate attempts at pop from Colm.
Certainly not worth the money

Having been to all of these wonderful musicals and the recent Les Miserables film I thought I would treat myself to this DVD and continue to enjoy the magical music sung by the wonderful Colm Wilkinson. What a huge disappointment this DVD turned out to be. Old, decrepid, unexciting and poor in every way. No I wouldn't recommend it. In fact after one viewing/hearing I threw it into the charity shop bag.
