5.0 out of 5 stars A great Piece of Musical Art!, 1 Feb. 2010

This review is from: Winterreise - Bostridge/Schubert [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a great piece of Musical Art - if you don't mind listening to Songs sung in a foreign language.

Ian Bostridge is probably one of the world's greatest 'living' Singers, and so this makes for great listening pleasure - despite the language barrier. It lasts for little over an hour, which isn't over-long for this kind of thing; any more, and because of the language problem, may have become a bit boring. The acting 'presence' is good - though Ian's eyes are often expressionless which is not particularly good in this particular genre. (unless of course it is meant to be that way?)

On a lighter note; Ian does have a habit of 'spitting' when singing excitably - but we didn't really need such close-ups of the 'spittle! LOL I felt at times I needed to jump out of the way of the TV screen!

NOTE: though this has a Menu for 'English' Subtitles, they would only serve as a great distraction from such an amazing piece of Art - it's probably best to leave them off.

Also includes a 'mini' Documentary of the making of the movie - which was filmed in a disused Psychiatric Hospital!.
