4.0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest bands with a greatest hits thats worthy
The Doors are widly regarded as one of the greatest bands of all time, which is clearly demonstrated in this CD. Most people tend to remember the classic "Light my Fire" however, there are so many more glorious songs on this album. Songs like "LA woman", "Love me two times" and the opening track "Riders on the storm". This album...

3.0 out of 5 stars NUL POINTS FOR THE TERRIBLE REMIXES
NUL POINTS FOR THE TERRIBLE REMIXES, IMHO, even though some reviewers rate them. People will be turning in their graves, why mess with classics. The first CD is ***** as all tracks are the originals, but why spend extra for a double CD if you can get all the decent tracks on a cheaper single CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars An almost perfect compilation, with some masterful re-mixes., 19 Mar 2001

This review is from: Best of the Doors (Audio CD)
The Best of The Doors?, nearly but not quite, no Land Ho or Peace Frog! But, the bonus re-mixes disc of Riders On The Storm is astounding. Come on guys, revamp some other classic material. It just shows that Jim's lyrics and your music is timeless. All the favourites are here, a re-issue of an earlier big selling release, the classics like Light My Fire and L.A. Woman stand up as ever, whilst the innovation is the limited edition bonus CD. There are young engineers and mixers out there who will keep Jim alive forever. John, Robbie, and Ray - please continue, 'Break on through' and keep on reinventing The Doors. There is a new generation awaiting some real music. For any Doors fan who does not have any compilation in their collection, to go with all the individual albums!, this is one to seriously consider investing in - it re-invigorates The Doors. I bought it on a whim, and was blown away!

This review is from: Best of the Doors (Audio CD)
The Best of the Doors is a fabulous way into the music of this creative, innovative and very special band. There are so many glorious and iconic songs on this compilation which deserve to be re-visited by every generation, much like the songs of the Beatles.

However, the remix disc is utterly superfluous and in essence, pointless. it adds nothing to the listening experience and seems to have no place here.

***** for the Best of with a * lost for the remixes.
