5.0 out of 5 stars STUNNING!!!!
DM's trademark song: an instant cult hit that redefines the meaning of beauty. A delicate commentary on love relationships and of the lack of importance of words to express feelings, conveyed by some of the most fascinating music ever. Sweeping, majestic, assured: a masterpiece that truly stands the test of time. The other mixes are good (especially Kevorkian's), but not...

I guess its kind of ironic that this CD hasn't turned up. Or is it? Perhaps this is somebody's idea of a joke and I have only just got it (the joke, not the CD (that has yet to be seen or even heard))

Enjoy the silence was the most requested song on the radio back when it was first released, yet it failed to hit the number 1 spot in the charts! Incredible, as it is such a quality tune that, for me, saw the peak of Depeche Mode. On this single, the original radio edit is accompanied by a 'Hands and Feet' mix - at 6 and a half minutes, which is a great mix, simply extending the song and focussing more on the backing track, followed by some of Dave Gahns vocals. The 3rd track is the 'Ecstatic Dub' which is more of a club mix, with its backing track and the odd new sound effects and vocal changes.

Its not often you find a single with good mixes, but the 2 mixes on this single really do justice, and don't whatsoever change or wreck the original songs value and melody. All in all, a single well worth buying, for now and the future, as this song will no doubt stay timeless

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the all-time greatest songs, 27 Dec 2006

Without sounding gushing and over-enthusiastic and not even being much of a Depeche Mode fan, I think this has to be one of the finest songs ever written. The melody is simply stunning and never fails to grip me every time I hear it, whilst the rythym and keys are trancendant. Its truely a glorious, haunting song, which lifts and moves whilst maintaining drive and meaning. I think this could stand up to the best songs by any artist and one of the amazing things is that it doesen't, although heavily relying on synthesisers, sound dated. A great song.
