5.0 out of 5 stars Disturbing genius
I bought this E.P. about 6 years ago, and it is truly spectacular, although in a very bizarre way. Not as pop as the No Stlye single that followed but creepingly beautiful. It has a strange inertia that'll make you want to listen to it over and over.
Being a big Beta fan this was a great discovery just after finding The Three E.P.'s.
In short this takes the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not great- one opinion.
Bought out of curiosity and because I liked the other ep, I have to say I expected something a bit more imaginative, or at least with a groove. Track one is pseudo-jungle, track two is a clashing break beat number with some chirpy melodica (sounds good but the break is monotonous and too fast)Track three may grow one me- its a somber quiet dreamy song. Track four is a...

In short this takes the weirdness of The Three E.P.'s and moves it on that extra step. not for the faint hearted though.

4.0 out of 5 stars You won't find Beta than this.., 19 July 2001

This review is from: Sings Nelly Foggits Blues (Audio CD)
Being a massive Beta Band fan, I was massively excited to hear of Beta frontman Steve Mason's solo project.
This EP is very much in the vein of early Beta Band stuff- a lack of regard for structure, flow, or conventional sound.
The EP's real gem is 'Little White', a short, sombre effort that really doesn't sound like anyone else- Mason really is some sort of unfocussed genius with melody, and the sheer colour of his music.
The remaining tracks, whilst not quite as blessed with genius, are typically excellent and creative.
In short, an excellent record for anyone with a taste for the unusual, and a must for Beta fans.

Track four is a sing-a-long beatles sounding beta thing that is kind of nice but just not a winner..
I still will have high expectations of anything Steve or the BB release but this just ain't worth picking up..
It got three stars because of the deeply nice cover art and CD presentation.
