5.0 out of 5 stars Simply superb
Juliana Hatfield is the only artist to get two places in my top ten albums of all time; this is one of those albums (the other being 'Become What You Are'). I don't think there's a single track on this album I dislike. Some of the best ('Backseat', 'Sneaking Around') have a certain fragility, dealing with relationships, an emotional state of mind. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not her best album
I don't really know about this one. "Swan song" is one of the best songs Juliana has ever written, but on the whole this album is just not her best. It very pleasing to listen to, but not something to remember. It has its moments though.

Others are just, well, fun ('Swan Song'), with light hearted lyrics. And I love the guitar on tracks like 'Bad Day', it really grabs you and keeps you listening. This is my favourite Juliana album, it's probably her most complete, the one that best melds the indie rocker and female singer/songwriter in her. If you like only one of those styles, I bet you'll be surprised how the other creeps its way into your consciousness: this album really grows on you.
If you get the more recent re-issue, you get easily the two best tracks off 'Do Not Disturb' (after the original 'Bed' album tracks) as well, you lucky things you (though I actually think 'Bed' works better as an album without them).

5.0 out of 5 stars wow, 21 July 2001

Although many Juliana fans like this album least, it is my favourite. It is angsty and beautiful and spontaneous and fabulous. The standout tracks are Down On Me, Swan Song, Back Seat, Live It Up, Let's Blow It All and the amazing Running Out; probably the most beautiful song Juliana has ever written.
