This was one of my favourite games as a child. Re-discovered and still love it. Slightly similar to pokemon but you can merge your monsters to make them stronger.

This game has one of the most in-depth character development and story line I have ever had the pleasure of exploring, it has no end of creativity to it and can be played over and over with different outcomes. I recommend this game to everyone and I would define it as the best game of my childhood!

An average RPG game made by Genki and Crave entertainment. The graphics are generally well detailed. The environments quickly change shape and form. The monsters do too. Thats the idea of the game. To summon monsters raised by yourself against others. They change colour and shape depending on how or who you breed with and with the ability to capture them there is lots to do in this game. If breeding monsters and fighting is your sort of thing then you should definetely check this game out!

Jade cocoon is almost pokemon with more features,(eg merging and your creatures actually changing form over time), even though i now have a ps2 i still play this game teh graphics might be poor (it is a ps1 game) there is so much to do so i have completed this game seceral times
You are a young boy (jade) who is tied down by the traditions of the small village he lives in, jades father was the last 'cocoon master' (he is the one who goes around fighting the evil creatures in the village) but he disapeared before jade was born, and, so becaues the creatures of the forest put a plague on the town jade is appointed the new coccoon master and you take it from there training merging and growing stronger beasts to eventually restore the health and peace of the village.
If i could i would give it 10 stars, another plus side to this game is the violence is very tame so recommende to all ages. BUY THIS AND YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT
Oh and just saying dont buy jade cocoon2 worst let down ever :(

The first thing to notice about Jade Cocoon is the presentation... gorgeous graphics and some very chilled out tunes give a relaxing, almost dream-like state to much of the game. The controls over how the game presents itself are a nice touch (you can cut to shorter battle magic effects to allow you to move through the game faster, silence the (sometimes painful) drawling American voiceovers and so on), giving some flexibility to what could become an otherwise tedious game...
Jade Cocoon is very much like Pokemon in style, its true... but fairs fair, after a few hours the game itself becomes mind-numbingly repetitive, and the time it takes to advance levels once your party becomes a little battle-hardened is slightly infuriating.
I played the game itself for a total of about 24 hours before giving up with it (I had saved the village and was working my way through seemingly endless fights in the hidden bit afterwards) so I guess I gave it as much of a shot as anyone else... *shrugs*
All in all, its a game that looks great, but you soon realise there's not a lot of substance to it. Doubtlessly it'll appeal to the "gotta catch 'em all!" pokemon obsessives, but to your average joe, who wants to see a little more storyline for thier money, my recommedation would be to give this one a miss and go and buy a proper RPG...
