5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Rock album in recent memory
Basically put, this album is the best rock album I have heard in ages. The line up of this band though was always going to produce a classic like this. Josh Homme, the song writer and guitarist, Nick Oliveri, the insane hedonistic bass player with a penchant for playing naked. Coupled with Nark Lanegan from The Screaming Trees, this is a line up that cannot fail. Every...

1.0 out of 5 stars Like a bootleg
Very bad sound, almost like a bootleg. Still its an official version, just not a good one. Avoid at all costs.

5.0 out of 5 stars You lot are missing the point!, 13 Jun 2001

If you want huge riffs, and bone crushing heavyness, buy all of Kyuss's albums (which are all fantastic). If you want all of the above, plus a mixture of punk, ska, folk, country and western and every other style of music imaginable, then buy this record. Its eclecticness is what sets it apart from all of its peers, and is precisely the reason why this (and the first Queens album) is such an important, magnificent record. Don't get me wrong, I love huge riffage (and was and still am a huge Kyuss fan), but Josh Homme and the boys are taking it to a whole new level. Buy, listen without prejudice and get into the most important band around at the moment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rated 5 stars, 26 Mar 2001
This review is from: Rated R (Audio CD)
Has to be one of the better albums of last year.. the album works as a hole..every song flows great after each other.. I also like how it starts with the 1st song Feel good hit of the summer, great song..but when its over and The lost art of keeping a secret starts it makes that sound even better.
The poor thing on this is Quick and to the pointless, it is quick and pointless.. audio pilot, leg of lamb, into the fade are great songs. and the ways they change singer during the album makes it more intresting.
The exter cd is cool with its new songs and cd video, ********** Rock on!! **********

4.0 out of 5 stars Mad full-on American rock, 12 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Rated R (Audio CD)
This album should be on every rock fans shelf. There is a lot of energy here and, in my opinion, is worth buyimg just for the first two songs 'feel good hit of the summer' is fast paced and, truth be told, a spine tingler. 'The lost art of keeping a secret' is THE best song on the album and is one of the top ten songs of 2000. The fact that only some of the band are full-time is astonishing. There are a couple of bum songs but hey it's only there second album that they have released and it is not as if they are trying to become a phenomenon. I see no reson to go on - go buy this album. Well done lads!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just as you would expect from a band of this calibre!, 24 Jun 2003

Fantastic. When I heard 'Songs for the Deaf' I was blown away. A unique experience of basic rock mixed with.........I am not really sure! All I know is that it worked. 'Rated R' is as good, and dare I say it almost better! The highlights are 'The lost art of keeping a secret' (a live version was on 'Songs for the Deaf') and 'Auto Pilot'. Great album, buy now!
