5.0 out of 5 stars Swedish Death Metals' finest hour?, 3 April 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Dark Recollections (Audio CD)
Legendary amongst the underground tape trading scene in the late 1980s, Carnage had built their reputation on two demos, "Infestation of Evil" and "The Day Man Lost." After some line up shuffles this classic debut was recorded. Although the sessions produced a stunning album, easily superior to their peers, the bands' split relegated "Dark Recollections" to a status of 'cult classic.' Given a re mix and re release due to Michael (Carcass, Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggars) Amotts' continued success, hopefully this album will have a new leash of life. Standout tracks include "Infestation of Evil" and "Gentle Exhuming" although every track is seminal. Also included on the CD are the remixed demos! A lot rougher in sound quality, but blessed with the fuzzy guitar sound and crushing power which made the Swedish scene so dominant in the late 80s and early 90s. Ex members have gone on to form bands such as Dismember and Deranged, although only "Like an Ever Flowing Stream" by Dismember has come close to this albums' greatness.

4.0 out of 5 stars lost classic, 8 July 2008
This review is from: Dark Recollections (Audio CD)
featuring future members of arch enemy dismember and entombed in their ranks the pedigree here is high
and its very very very good old school classic swedish sound death metal
and its brilliant its like its 1992 all over again
as such it being old there is moving new here
but what is here is a premium slice of top drawer death metal that if you like the genre you owe it to yourself to own
