5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic return by The Almighty, 14 Jun 2000

This review is from: Almighty (Audio CD)
A fantastic album from a recently reformed Almighty. After the release of 'Just Add Life' Ricky Warwick decided that The Almighty had gone as far as they could and they disbanded, Ricky returning to Ireland to put together a new band. Luckily for us he changed his mind and this album features three out of the four original band members. It is unmistakably The Almighty. There are traces of all the previous albums and some totally new touches. New guitarist Nick Parsons has contibuted quite heavily to the song writing and this is no bad thing. The album opener 'Broken Machine' makes it clear from the very start that the band have lost none of their power with pounding drums and grinding guitars topped off by Ricky's snarling vocals. And from there on it just gets better. Personal favourites include 'Big Black Automatic' ( not a typical Almighty song, but superb none-the-less ), 'White Anger Comedown' which has a very punky feel to it and 'USAK-47'. I would highly recommend this album to anyone who likes their rock heavy and powerful!
