This true punk rock album expresses the real ways of life with excellent lyrics you are able to relate much of these to your own life. The music is just excellent and you really can't stop yourself from getting up and jumping around to the amazing tunes! This is a must have album and any fans of bad religion must have it! 3.0 out of 5 stars It's Bad Religion!
Although not one of their better albums, if you like Bad Religion you will undoubtedly like this. However, If you're new to the band I'd suggest starting with some of their other albums; Stranger Than Fiction, Suffer or No Control.

5.0 out of 5 stars absolutely f-ing fantastic, 26 Jan 2007
This review is from: GRAY RACE (Audio CD)
This is one of the albums of the 90's, i can only think of 'Nevermind' as a better lp! From the explosive first track 'The Grey Race' to the last {everything must} Cease, that is one thing it dosen't do; cease tbat is! Its 16 tracks of the best melodic hardcore punk, full of brilliant tunes with harmonies, melodies and lotso' oooohs & aaaahs, absolutely fantastic album. The lyrics are intelligent and poetic involving politics both social, positive & uplifting, the last 2 also describe the music! Songs to check out include 'A Walk' and 'Drunk Sincerity' should get you jumping about, also 'Punk Rock Song' & 'Pity The Dead'. If you like sing-a-long choruses or great music, BUY THIS!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The last outstanding Bad Religion album! After this...mediocrity, 24 July 2007
By
This review is from: The Gray Race (Audio CD)
This is honestly the last 'great' Bad Religion album. After this each release seems to be heading towards repetition an mediocrity...
Bad Religion is one of the few bands (in any genre) that continued to come up with outstanding or at least strong albums since their 1988 Suffer release. 'The Gray Race' marks the end of their legacy IMO but it is such an end!

Many fans were afraid that after Mr.Brett's (songwriter/guitarist) departure the band will go commercial and loose their edge, but this fortunately didn't happen here. This album contains all of BR's hooks, melodic vocals, memorable and catchy choruses, great guitar riffs and strong drumming. The band has come up with some of their best song material ever in tunes such as "Parallel", "Cease", "Ten in 2010", "Come Join Us" and "Them and Us"!

In terms of atmosphere 'The Gray Race' brings across something in between 'Stranger Than Fiction' and 'Generator', what more do you need? Vocally and lyrically Graffin is still going strong and inspired (not like nowadays) as in all previous efforts, the guitar riffs-solos are memorable and undeniably Bad Religion, the bass melodic as usual, while Bobby is excellent behind the drum set.

Buy this without hesitation...actually buy every BR album from Suffer up to this, you won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars A damn fine album., 19 Sep 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: GRAY RACE (Audio CD)
This was the first Bad Religion I heard and it did more than enough to make sure it wasnt the last. Its 40 minutes of energy filled punk rock. I recommend songs "Punk Rock Song" "10 in 2010" and "Parallel"
The lyrics are imaginitive and the guitars are searing. If you are a fan of BR's then this album is a must, if not then its probably worth a look anyway. The songs are political but easy to listen and move to. You'll be playing air guitar like nobodies business.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Gray Race, a modern punk masterpiece, 30 Sep 2004
This review is from: The Gray Race (Audio CD)
This LP shows why it's an enormous relief this band survives and still prospers ? there's no better punk rock band in the world. Not even close. No one else can mix such high octane tunefulness, the most thought-provoking lyric sheet around, and Graffin's still ungodly, powerful voice. Hell, does anyone in America deliver better harmonies than this bunch? No! The standouts are the mid-tempo chuggers ? "Pity the Dead" is so catchy it hurts, with a knockdown bridge that stops the heart as Graffin strains for a dramatic high note. Likewise, "Spirit Shine" and the radio hit "A Walk" show the kind of melodic gifts a band should have to beg Lucifer for. The only reason Gray Race is even remotely weaker than their other LPs is because sympathetic producer Ric Ocasek (the Cars) smoothes out the firepower a tad. As well, without Gurewitz's half, a couple of songs seem so-so by past standards, and there's less variety. But make no mistake, Gray Race is one of the finest LPs any American band released in 1996; may they make records 'til the title of this LP refers to their hair.
