Yes, a budget CD which does not contain "later recordings made with as many of the original blah blah blah...". These are ALL original releases from the fifties - no remakes or out takes here

Please note that a lot of these are British artists doing cover versions of what were then current American hits. That was common in the 1950s, since a lot of records that were hits in America didn't get released in the UK until a year or more after their US chart run. That allowed British artists to grab some great songs and have a UK hit with them (and sometimes ensured that there was no market for the original American hit, when it was eventually released in the UK!). So, although a lot of these are well known songs, the US versions of them have become better known to modern ears in later years - and some (though not all) of these UK cover versions have been somewhat forgotten. However, there are a some UK originated hits here though, Russ Conway, The Spinners and Jimmy Young provide some of them.

Amazon, as ever, does not have a listing of the tracks so here's what you get on this particular silver platter.

01. Emile Ford and the Checkmates: What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes at Me For?
02. Gary Miller: Robin Hood Theme (the Dick James version was the hit though)
03. Dickie Valentine: Venus
04. Russ Conway: China Tea
05. Petula Clark: Band Of Gold
