5.0 out of 5 stars An all-time classic WWF wrestling event., 6 Aug 2004

This review is from: WWF: Summerslam 1989 - Feel The Heat [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This title seems to be the inaugural American wrestling show for many people, and anyone lucky enough to have seen this show should agree that it is an excellent example of American wrestling and the WWF at its best.
While the card may not seem significantly spectacular at first glance, it's not until you see the quality of the performances throughout the whole event when you realise that this is an essential addition to your tape collection and will serve more than just entertainment as the fine performances prove almost educational, exhibiting the quality that is absent from today's product.
As you join the excellent crowd at the Meadowlands Arena, you're treated to a classic Tag Team Championship match featuring the Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart) versus the BrainBusters (Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson). Other highlights include an intense Intercontinental Title bout which furthered the fued between Rick Rude and the Ultimate Warrior, a fast paced 6-Man Tag match featuring the Rockers and Tito Santana versus the Rougeaus and Rik Martel, and a nicely performed confrontation between an early Mr Perfect and the Red Rooster.
There's plenty on the card for the 'casual' fan also, with an oversized 6-Man Tag: Demolition and Jim Duggan versus Andre The Giant, Big Boss Man and Akeem; Ted Dibiase versus Jimmy Snuka, and a heated unscheduled encounter between a guest ring announcer and a wrestler.
The main event sees Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake take on Randy Savage and Zeus. While this match was blatantly booked to promote the feature film "No Holds Barred", the action in the ring, and outside as the 1st lady Miss Elizabeth and the excellent 'Sensational' Sherri Martel come to blows, makes this match the perfect end to a perfect show.
You need this.

This was my first ever pay per view that I bought and the first one to get me interested in classic WWF wrestling. It has some classic matches such as the main event tag match between Hulk and brutus the barber beefcake going against Macho man and Zeus. This is a great match, probably the best of their confrontations. A great match between the Red rooster and Mr Perfect, I would say was the best of the night with the undefeated streak of Mr Perfect on the line. I can't remember most of the matches right now but it was a very good event.
