This is a corker of a film that will grip you from start to finish. I think I've watched it about 3 times and it still has the same impact as the first. A very true (or so I'm led to believe) portrayal of life in East LA during the last few decades. Fantastic character building, where we see the turn from young and innocent to misery, regret and bitterness. The film is 3 hours long, but it could have been 4 as far as I'm concerned. The ending will make you smile, but still feel sad. A fantastic journey. Own it

One of the best movies I have seen related to the historical events surrounding Mexican gang activity in California prisons during that era. Though liberalities with names of gangs and locations were implemented, one can see how naturally 'underground' societies can develop and thrive where and when needed or necessary. The three main actors did a superb job, as well as the SQ prisoners. Having worked as a Correctional Officer in California adult and youth prisons, I can say it was refreshing to see a tastefully done portrayal of life behind the razor wire - focus was on the characters and the story line and not just on acts of violence.

Blood in Blood Out is Shakespearan in scope, realistic in execution, a truly huge movie. Unlike hollywood product the film focuses as much on character as plot- I've seen this film three times and expect to watch it again and probably again- buy now !

This really makes your hairs stand up. Brilliant film. Keeps your concentration through out.
Wouldn't like to see this film just before your going into prison in the US of A.
The worst part is that it makes it look so real.........Hope Not!

This film is set in the 80's in East LA with a large mexican family who have 3 teenage boys. Their journey for respect, power, money and honour has Miklo (the youngest) prepared to do anything to gain recognition. Miklo is white skinned but has mexican blood and this film takes you on a 3 hour long journey of how Miklo becomes the main leader of La Honda. Paco goes to Police Acadamy and becomes a detective, Cruise becomes a promising artist who is haunted by his brothers death. The twisting, manipulation, disceet and strong powerful bonds will have you gripped from the moment it starts. I have seen this film more than 30 times over the past 10 years. If you liked Boyz in the Hood then you'll love this film. A definate must.

The most important Mexican America movie ever made. This is one film that stands up today as it did on release day. This version is the closest we will ever get to the full four plus hours that was made and the director wanted to release. If you have not seen it you don't know what your missing. A story that could be told by any and all gangs in the world today no matter race or creed.

If you've never seen this film Id definatly recommend it! I first saw it when it originally came out,it was good then and ain't lost anything since. It's how films should be made, has you thinking and just when you think you've got it sussed it leads in another direction. Can't wait for the remake just to see if it's just as good.

This film is about a family heavily effected by the scourge of gangs and drugs, and follows the male members of the family through the teenage years to later on in life. It has absolutely everything you could want in a film if you like violence and action. It's over 3 hours long but the time flies and you wont want to leave your seat once you start watching this.
