Stunning debut from Ireland's finest rock export,
By A Customer
This review is from: Trains, Boats & Planes (Audio CD)
This debut album from the Frank & Walters is surely one of the best albums I've ever heard. With influences heavily rooted in classic powerpop such as the Beatles, with a healthy nod towards more contempary artists such as U2, "Planes, Boats & Trains" is consistantly superb throughout it's 11 tracks. An almost whimsical sense of Irish humour pervades the first three tracks of this album, all of them impressive in scope and melody, before you reach "After All", their biggest hit single to date, couple that with the albums other two finest moments; namely the fantastic "Happy Busman" and the U2esque "Fashion Crisis Hits New York", and you have an album that puts more commercially successful artists to shame. This is a stunning album which everyone should own.

All of their best tracks are here. A perhaps under-appreciated Irish band with a nice guitar-driven sound, catchy tunes and a good dollop of humour and personality. Recommended.
