5.0 out of 5 stars Technical metal at its best!, 10 April 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Microscopic View of a Telescopic Realm (Audio CD)
This is Tourniquet's 9th release and in my opinion the best. Mind-blowing clasically influented technical metal containing among other things concentrated fast guitars and drums, complicated rhythms, blues-metal, and well-written intellectual lyrics. Very detailed music, often very fast, often heavy, often copious and full, often complicated and sometimes quite funny. Very, very, very good!
An impressively well-played record well worth listening to!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelent in your face Good Technical Rock, 15 Dec 2000

This band has unbelievable talent. Technical rock at its best! The drumming is the best I've heard and goes at high speed and precision, but very nice at the same time. The vocals vary between two great singers, alternating, one with a heavier/rougher voice balanced out with another more melodic voice creating a good balanced heavy rock sound all round.............BRILLIANT. They a list of brilliant previous album varing in style, but all good and original!

Metal Blade are to be congratulated for picking up on Tourniquet. A metal band, yes, but also one which doesn't spout the usual nonesense about drugs and darkness and Satan & being depressed and hating everyone and killing everyone etc etc etc.
Toourniquet set the standard which a lot of bands cannot reach in playing and writing. Intelligent lyrics backed by some of the fastest, most technical metal you will every hear. There is light and shade, fast and slow etc etc. There is also no backing away from telling it like it is.
If you played this album to many people - together with all of their previous releases - they would be hard-presed to identify them as Godly peopl, but take listen to the lyrics - or read them if you cannae make them out(!) - they make it very plain where they are coming from.
As far as the tracks go, they start off on a high and keep on going. Brutal to liten to all at the one time for some, but ver satisfying stuff. My own favourite is the continuing story of the Skeezix on track 12. Brilliant stuff.
If you want your metal without all the negativity which so often is attached to it these day, Tourniquet could very well be your next purchase.
