My wife and I throughly enjoyed this film, the film was portrayed as a mixture of romance and humour and we were extremely entertained by the whole performance. Our Son found the film a little on the slow side, but he is used to the big time action films so to a degree on another wave length, (Plus of course the plot was for prisoners of war, so the action expectation bit would be some what subdued, never-the-less there was some good action albeit more of the typical day to day life of big boys falling out with one another (over a girl etc.) rather than military engagements).

We have seen so many WW2 films over time and subsequently have a sound appreciation of a film cut above the rest!

The scenery is awsome as the Emerald Isles indeed are, and the plot is good (different) the acting was excellent and the whole movie was well put together.

Will we watch the film again, absolutely you can bet on that one.

Cheers
Gerry Carter

What an incredibly funny, touching and heartwarming film. I had no idea that this happened during the war - and had to check to make sure it was a true story. Absolutely brilliant.

very simple but enjoyable film,a lot of good acting, funny, sad, dramatic, beautifully filmed based on a true story. It is well cast and had a serious story to tell about futility of war,I really enjoyed the way it drew you in to that time in history and it is also a good film for women to watch.

This an excellent film. When it tries to be funny, it makes you laugh properly. It has a serious side, showing the divisions in Eire over the war, some managing to regard as a conflict solely between the UK and Germany (with clear shades of "my enemy's enemy is my friend" thrown in), very many others volunteering to fight fascism. It also includes all the PoW stereotypes from every PoW camp we have ever seen, but manages to give them meaning by showing them as people who have decided how they behave as prisoners, how they will react to the proximity of their enemies, rather than just being cogs in a machine.

The story is hung around a romance, but it's not about the romance, it's about people and how they think about things.

It really could do with subtitles, but sadly, there are none. None to be found on the web either. Very sad.

From the moment the film started I was overwelmed by the wonderful scenery. Even though an awlful war was going on, this film made you see other parts of the war that you might not have known about. The idea of the two captured enemies spending time almost together, except for the dividing barbed wire, seemed almost unreal. The love story that infolds is truly beautiful and leaves you at the end quite transfixed. Beautiful

This is a thoroughly enjoyable film and gives a peek at a part of history in Ireland that people outside the country are not terribly likely to know about. It has a great cast and scenery as well.

An unusual tale of a topic rarely told. Based around the fact that Ireland remained neutral throughout the Second World War and how it treated British and German servicemen who washed up on her shores.
I puzzled for some time about the identity of the leading lady but as soon as she started dancing, I realised where I'd seen her before.
The scenery was just awesome. Was it filmed around the West coast of Ireland. That beach scene.....was it the same beach that was used in Ryan's Daughter?

Well worth viewing.

I had enjoyed that film very much on first release, not least because it depicts a little-known aspect of WWII. It is very disappointing to find it in this ridiculous 'full screen' format. The Irish landscape deserves better... I cannot give more than three stars for that very reason.

The Brylcreem Boys deals with a topic that has generally remained underexposed in the history of World War II and the tense relationship between Eire and the UK during that period. The Irish tried to treat both Allied and German pow's evenhandely, but were not always succesful in this. The film is both humorous, romantic and serious. Jean Butler is a distinct asset!
