The Keys of Marinus has it's ups and downs, the ups being Episode 1, Episode 2, The Jungle Parts and Episode 6, the downs being The Snows of Terror and the special features. It starts of very interesting, and grips you from the start, then the next few episodes are very good also, especially Episode 2 with the city which is not all as it seems, Episode 6 is also very good with Ian's trial and the final confrontation with the stories main villain The Voord, (Which only appear in Episodes 1 & 6) The Downs are the Snows of Terror, Which is fairly dull and unexciting, and the special features, which there are very little on this disc, and none of them are that interesting... But good watching anyway

Another excellent example of 1960's television brought to DVD. This adventure sees the Tardis crew have their own seperate adventures per episode, but they are all linked into one major goal, that is to retrieve the 4 keys which were scattered around the planet Marinus. The only thing that was disappointing was William Hartnell having a 1 week holiday, so unfortunatly he disappears for 2 episodes, but other than that it is gripping.

The extras on the DVD are very sparse I am afraid, I think they could have put a bit more on them e.g. cast & crew interviews, easter eggs etc, but don't be put off buying it, you'll will absolutly enjoy it.

Well I suppose this was an exercise in pure nostalgia for me but I always regarded the first doctor as the best and complete stories from this era are rare on the ground. By modern day production values the sets are admittedly a bit clunky, and some people seem to be unable to lose themselves in a story presented in black and white, nevertheless this is a good story from the early years.....and.....it reminds me what it was like to be 12 years old again!

This is a marvellous story, with the time travellers sent out on a quest to retrieve the lost "Keys" to the supercomputer of Marinus. Each episode features a different location and thus serves to hold the interest of the viewer. The acting is surprisingly good throughout and the effect are great for the era in question. William Hartnell is on fine form as the first Doctor, as are the original TARDIS team. Give it a go !
