4.0 out of 5 stars Corrie in Vegas - a laugh a minute!
'Coronation Street' used to be such a great show, full of warmth, great humour, solid acting (although there has always been the occasional Chris Quinten) and loveable characters. Fast forward to 2014 - oh dear!

3.0 out of 5 stars CARRY ON CORONATION STREET
Second video spin off special of Coronation Street which is better than the first which was set on a cruise but at the same time is silly and over the top. However its entertaining stuff as you see different sides to Jack, Vera (the streets funniest couple) and Fiona and Maxine. Comedy plays an integral part to this spin off and at times its crazy antics come across like...

'Coronation Street' used to be such a great show, full of warmth, great humour, solid acting (although there has always been the occasional Chris Quinten) and loveable characters. Fast forward to 2014 - oh dear!

This wonderful 1998 straight-to-video special is a laugh a minute, but then again, it does star Jack and Vera Duckworth, played by the quite brilliant William Tarmey (RIP) and Elizabeth Dawn, club singers who had such a natural quality for comedy and formed a brilliant partnership.

In a completely silly storyline, the battling Duckworths fly out to Las Vegas to renew their wedding vows, only to receive some surprisingly news. Plenty of fun and frolics is what Maxine Heavey (Tracy Shaw) is hoping for when she and her pal Fiona (Angela Griffin) also land in Vegas, but trouble is what she ultimately finds. An old face from 'Coronation Street's' past pops up, and also in the cast are Michael McShane, Gwen Humble, and a cameo from Joan Collins.

You don't have to be a 'Street' fan to enjoy this video, as I think it works well as a stand alone comedy film in it's own right. It's like what the modern-day '90s 'Carry On' movie 'Columbus' should have been, believe me, 'Viva Las Vegas' really is funny.

However its entertaining stuff as you see different sides to Jack, Vera (the streets funniest couple) and Fiona and Maxine. Comedy plays an integral part to this spin off and at times its crazy antics come across like a modern day Carry On film but fans will lap this up as it is fun to see four great characters away from the street. A watchable video that has some funny moments.
