G. E. Harrison (Cheltenham, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tiger Man (Audio CD)
This was Kim's first solo record and it's still one of the the best things he's done since leaving the original Fabulous Thunderbirds. It's a wonderful CD featuring great songs, great back up musicians (including Duke Robillard, Rusty Zinn and Junior Watson on guitars), and both sensational harp playing and great vocals from the man himself.

We get off to a great start with Rufus Thomas's 'Tigerman', then there's Johnny Guitar Watson's 'Don't touch me baby' and then...well there isn't a bad track on the record but my other highlights are 'If I should loose you' and Willie Mabon's 'When the lights go out'. Probably the biggest risk was Sonny Boy Williamson's dead slow blues 'Trust my baby' but Kim completely nails this very difficult song.

A marvellously consistent CD from probably the best blues harmonica player around who, on this showing, demonstrates that his singing is right up there with his harp playing. A tour de force of modern West Coast blues that leaves the competition far behind.
