What can I say, this soundtrack contains some of the most emotion evoking music I have ever heard. Everyone knows what the Star Wars themes sound like, from the opening credits to The Imperial March- Darth Vader's theme, but words can not express what effect this music has on people or what it means to Star Wars fans.
This soundtrack is a re-recording that John Williams did with the Skywalker symphony orchestra in 1990 at the Skywalker Ranch, it contains the best music from the original trilogy. The theme from The Emperor's Throne Room does not appear here, but it is on the deluxe edition and the Return Of The Jedi soundtrack, but it is still awesome.

This is a suberbly crafted distillation of the music of the first Star Wars Trilogy made by the composer. It is in the form of a "suite" or "symphony" and lasts about an hour. It does not become jaded by repeated hearings and deserves classic status. Some enterprising choreographer could do worse than make it into a ballet!

I recently re-purchased this CD when I realised I’d lost my original copy from back in the day. Yes, I have alot of these or similar tracks on other disks but this particular recording sounds quite amazing and the Skywalker Orchestra (conducted by Williams) are utterly fantastic. I also think it’s a nice selection – less is more sometimes. I thoroughly recommend this release to all – the genius of Williams has never sounded better.
