Europe are a great band in every department and The Final Countdown is one of the greatest rock albums of all time. The title track in itself is an anthem but tracks like Cherokee and Rock the Night are just great to rock to. One of my favourite ballads of all time is on this album in the form of Carrie which was a big hit in the U.S. This is a must for any rock collection!

It may surprise many readers to learn that this was in fact Europe's third album, because the title track of it seems to have eclipsed everything else the band has recorded in the minds of a lot of people.

'The Final Countdown' was not the only hit on this album, 'Rock The Night' and 'Carrie', peaked at no.12 and no.22 in the UK respectfully, and the latter was a top three hit in the US. 'Carrie', an emotional and epic power ballad remains my favourite of the three.

The other tracks include 'Cherokee', a flop fourth single but a fan favourite, and the standout album only song 'Time Has Come', a Viking prayer set to a fantastic musical score. The track is very apt now considering some of the things that are happening in the world today. However, aside from the closing track 'Love Chaser', there aren't any other real gems to be found on this album, although this particular re-issue does include live versions of the three hit singles as bonus tracks.

I don't think 'The Final Countdown' has aged particularly well, the overall production is very 1980s, which is far from a bad thing to someone who regards this decade as the best for classic rock music. My main concern is that some people might regard it as Europe's best album due to it's huge success - but it isn't. The follow up 'Out Of This World' lived up to it's title in many ways, and their 90s album 'Prisoners In Paradise' was of a higher level than both of them. Before this very commercial album hit the shelves, Europe had released two Lps of much harder, if less successful rock music. Luckily for us fans, this is something the guys have returned to with their 2004 comeback album 'Start From The Dark', and 'Secret Society', released last year.

Despite not showcasing Europe's true potential, 'The Final Countdown' is still a good album for the most part, and brings back some happy memories when I dig it out to play. I think it's fair to say that this CD does showcase a softer and more accessible Europe.

If you are looking for the best version of this album, you need to buy The Final Countdown, which has excellent mastered sound quality (done in New York especially for this release), and contains three live bonus tracks of 'The Final Countdown', 'Danger on the Track' and 'Carrie'.

Its 80's rock, its big hair, white teeth and flouncy clothes ... its awesome. Anyone who can see past the cheese and chintz of their early career and who has seen them live in recent years will know that Europe are still banging out top notch metal. They are an awesome live act, Joey Tempest is still giving high energy note perfect performances and with Jon Norum back in the band, the original Europe line-up continues to blow their audiences away. All the classics off this album get played every gig with complete audience participation and that reminds you how easy it is to underestimate how good this album actually is. Buy this and some of their newer stuff, then buy some tickets for their 2015 UK tour and I guarantee you leave the place with a massive grin on your face and a hoarse voice from all the singing along. Better than any Bon Jovi gig

13 excellent tracks, 4 live on stage...No doubt, the best edition so far of this amazing 1986 album.Great sound quality, in fact, this edition was mastered in New York, at Sony Music Studios.
This album is A MUST for all EUROPE fans!

First love, first child, first visit to Leeds, they all pale in comparison to the first time you hear this album. Of course eveyone knows it for the rightly famous title track but the real standout is "Ninja". No-one has ever captured the tragic plight of those noble masked killing machines like these geniuseses (genioids?). "Ninja survive, in dreams I walk by your side. Ninja survive, with you there's no need to hide". Man, I'm almost weeping from every orifice as I write those glorious words.

They may have been called "Europe" but they really should have called themselves, like, "The Whole Universe And Galaxy And Everything" cause they're that good.

The album defenitely has the classics and some very good album cuts but the last couple of songs really seem to be written just for the sake of it. I was also expecting more of the bonus tracks, you know, to hear different versions of similar songs. Turns out they actually sound the same as studio versions so it didn't make much difference. Good album nonetheless.

I bought the DVD through Amazon Marketing For a very low price and was rearly surpriced when i also got a free download to my Kindle fire.
The music on the CD is very enjoyable It maybe dated for some people but it is the music i prefere as it does have some meaning to the songs and not just a noise like the music of today is.
