4.0 out of 5 stars Weird but charming., 1 Aug 2012

This review is from: Tweez (Audio CD)
I have to agree with a previous reviewer on this one. It does sound like the songs are mixed up of parts meant for different songs but if you enjoy the album's amateurish charm, it begins to grow on you. There are some good riffs and wavy guitar, and Steve Albini's production is as raw as ever. In fact, this offering sounds a lot like Albini's previous band Big Black, complete with sounds that hint at Slint's next album, the haunting epic and much better crafted masterpiece that is 1991's 'Spiderland'. For now, 'Tweez' is definitely the sound of a band finding its feet and experimenting with music, but enjoying themselves at the same time. There is a sense of fun, with songs named after all the parents of the band members (including a dog), but this is still one of the weirdest, most dark and most challenging records to come out of underground America.
