4.0 out of 5 stars Will they return (or is it a dream)?
Please God, one last tour for us crusties!!!
Another fine album from the Davies boys- OK, the hard rock is not everyones cup of tea, but lyrically Ray is on top form and the Duet with Dave is just fantastic. Scattered, Still Searching, and the brilliant Informer are other highlights which any other band would have been proud of....sometimes we expect too much from...

2.0 out of 5 stars Is this the end (or is it only a dream?)

Just shy of their 30th anniversary as The Kinks, the Davies brothers made one final studio album in 1993 and like a lot of their later work, it's underrated and deserves rediscovery. Most reviews i've read of this record focuses on how heavy it is but it has plenty of quieter, more reflective numbers too, and no one pens a pretty ballad like Mr. Ray Davies. Highlights include the gorgeous closing track Scattered, the juvenile (in an enjoyable way) crush song Only A Dream and Hatred - a rocking duet between Ray and Dave playing on their difficult relationship. '90s digital production and length (16 tracks in over 70 minutes) may blunt it's impact a little but this is a fine swansong for one of the greatest rock 'n' roll/pop bands the world has ever seen.
