I have already reviewed Girl happy as a stand alone album but harum holiday only seems available as a double feature, so this review will be for that album only.
As a double package Girl happy spoils it because I think its a bad album see my review for this album.
Harum holiday in its songs and titles is full of eastern flavour which work quite well , even though I dont find most of the songs anything more than average its pleasent enough album to listen to one of Elvis better soundtracks even if your not a big fan of soundtracks.
The highlight is the track 'So close yet so far' this is one of the best tracks Elvis recorded in the 60,s, and is worth buying the album for just for this track. It shows Elvis given the right song (instead of film tie in tracks) can still 'cut it'.
R.C.A never released a single from this album which is one of their biggest mistakes , this track surley would have been a top ten hit , another black mark against R.C.A ( who at the time were releaseing old tracks as singles).
Still you can buy the album and enjoy this track even if you have to buy the terrible Girl happy with it.
Overall Harum holiday is a decent album with no really bad tracks on it a couple of good tracks and the outstanding So close yer so far.

This is a CD that captures the Elvis sound when he was really into doing movies and soundtracks(about 3 a year on average). I bought this CD before the FTD release came out of Girl Happy. This does contain another movie so you get two birds with one stone. The sound quality is fine; you get two movies on one CD; it is rare and I have nothing bad to say about it; but I do, however, prefer the FTD release over this as it does contain all of the Girl Happy content and additonal songs that were unreleased. FTD also has Harum Scarum in better sound and with outtakes...Why not buy other versions? They are still in print, and likely cheaper in additon to having more content and quality!! Good luck.

The coupling of two of the worst Elvis movie soundtracks ever...this is probably the worst 'Double Features' CD release.
If I could choose to give it 0 Stars then I definitely would.
When you compare it to the creative, raw talent of the 50's and the polished Master showman of the 70's then this is scraping the barrel...it can also lead to any unhealthy diet of Elvis movie addictiveness.
