5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Band, 19 Mar 2012

This review is from: Live At The BBC (Audio CD)
The Zombies formed in St Albans and soon signed to Decca. They had their highest chary success with debut single the brilliant She's Not There. This band was way under appreciated, record labels saw bands as disposable; they were worked hard and no thought was given to development. Their debut album Begin Here (The Complete Decca Mono Recordings 1964-1967) (expanded in this version) contained the above single but also a range of other wonderful songs including one of the best ever covers of Summertime.
They had a last ditch attempt at a break though with Odessey and Oracle which is now considered a classic. They split before it was recognised as the act of genius that it is now considered. (also available recorded live as: Odessey and Oracle - 40th Anniversary Live Concert)

This package is the Zombies entry in the great archive of BBC sessions. Amassed as a byproduct of musicians' union rules that restricted the proportion of recorded music that could be broadcast. There are a whole bunch of great songs performed and recorded brilliantly here. This is an essential part of any Zombies fan's collection
