5.0 out of 5 stars An experimental masterpiece., 13 Feb. 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Disco and the Halfway to Discontent (Audio CD)
This is the most enlightening, innovative and just plain funky album I have ever bought. I already own two of Cornershop's (who is another project founded by Tjinder Singh and Ben Ayres who are the founders of Clinton) albums and they are both fantastic, but this is even better! An incredible fusion of big-beat, disco and funk. From the sample-enriched "Buttoned Down Disco" to the Gospel influenced "Sing Hosanna" to the pounding beats of "Welcome to Tokyo Otis Clay", there's something for everyone. An absolute 'must buy'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its a Disco LP! Its not Cheese! Its damn Funky!, 4 Nov. 1999

Look! Clinton is the funky offshoot of 'Cornershop' ('brimful of Asher', remember?). Just goto your nearest record shop and listen to the opening track. The best opening track of a record I can remember. Think of Kool and the Gang, Sitar, a bit of James Brown and.... oh I cant think. The albums too unlike anything I've heard before to be able to describe it (apart for Cornershops '7th time' LP. just listen to the damn thing!

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent fusion of cultural and modern., 3 Nov. 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Disco and the Halfway to Discontent (Audio CD)
This is an unexpected delight. It's an album full of supprises, with an experimental fell that, gives it a rich texture of musical styles. The most impressive tracks are Button downed disco, which was the first single and Electric ice cream, but the album is full of well crafted tracks. It's well worth adding to your collection.
